Gone are the days of notches

Mi Mix by Xiaomi revolutionized the way modern smartphone screens look like. But the issue of placing the front camera has always been a cause of concern. Hence notches, pop-up selfie camera, mechanical sliders were born. But these truly loses the idea of true bezel-less display. And with the advancement of technologies, say Hi to "in-display camera" technology by Oppo & Xiaomi. This technology will allow for notch-less smartphones without any motorised parts.

Both Oppo & Xiaomi shared a video on Weibo respectively, earlier this month and Oppo now has released a short teaser video, showcasing the under display front camera.

In the video, the Chinese company shows the evolution of front-facing cameras on Oppo smartphones from the rotation selfie camera of Oppo N series, Waterdrop Notch, the pop-up camera setup on the Oppo Find X and the shark-fin setup on the Oppo Reno.

Oppo will unveil this technology at MWC Shanghai on June 26.

Meanwhile, Chinese giant Xiaomi also filed a patent which involves the use of two alternately-driven display portions to allow light to pass through to the camera sensor.

We might Expect that there will be a Great Competition between Xiaomi and Oppo about the Under-Display Camera Technology.
